Car driver slaps DPS students

A driver barged into a bus carrying class X students of the Delhi Public School (South) and slapped some of them last Friday for throwing water out of the bus, which fell on his car.

The incident reportedly took place near Bidadi when the students from DPS (South) in Konanakunte were on their way to Wonderla as part of their school trip.

A complaint was registered on Tuesday with the Bidadi police.
While students are still reeling under shock, parents and school authorities, who later heard about the incident, too, are still trying to come to terms with the incident.

According to the police, the class X students were playing inside the bus and spilt water out of the bus through a window. Due to the wind, the water fell on a car approaching from the rear.

The car driver grew furious, overtook the bus and stopped in front of it. He got out of the car and created a ruckus by threatening to stone the bus which forced the cleaner of the bus to open the door.

He barged in and caught hold of two students and slapped them. The students were later taken to hospital, the police said.

A senior police officer said the driver later followed the bus to Wonderla and was shouting abuses at the students. The scared students were soon sent inside the amusement park. The police have the registration number of the vehicle and the driver will be arrested soon.

Expressing serious concerns about children’s safety, one of the parents who did not want to be quoted said the bus had 40 students apart from teachers and the bus crew.

The school had hired buses for the trip. According to the students, all were screaming and none of the teachers or the bus staff came to their rescue. In fact, none of them even deemed it fit to call the police.

DPS management member Maqsood Ali Khan told Deccan Herald that the school has decided to take action.
