For BJP leaders, the process of demanding party tickets for panchayat elections is tougher than applying for a corporate job.

For the first time in Rajasthan, the BJP has introduced an application form for ticket aspirants.

The form comprises many riders that candidates are finding it difficult to fill up the form and eventually taking help from senior party leaders.

For the first time, candidates have been asked to submit an undertaking that they will support the party candidate in case they do not get a ticket.

The undertaking has to be submitted by each ticket aspirant along with the application form.

The initiative is an attempt to get rid of rebels. After the undertaking, the party will be in a commanding position to take action against disgruntled leaders.

“It’s an attempt to suppress resentment in the party after ticket distribution. Considering the Modi fever, everyone in the party wants a BJP ticket, which will ensure them easy victory in the elections,” a BJP member said.

“The number of ticket aspirants is unexceptionally high,” he said.
In civic body elections, rebels played spoilsport for the party and Congress got direct benefit on these seats, he added.

Candidates have been asked to give documents regarding the two riders introduced this year. Party candidates will have to submit appropriate evidence regarding their minimum education qualification fixed by the state government.

Proof of toilet building
The candidates will submit evidence that they have constructed a toilet at their homes too. To prevent forgery of documents, the BJP has asked candidates to submit an affidavit that all documents submitted by them are valid.

In case the documents are found to be fake, legal action will be taken.
Adding at least 100 new members has become the minimum goal to be eligible for a party ticket in the panchayat polls.

To everyone’s surprise, the BJP has asked candidates to give detailed information about the new members they have added in the party.

Apart from submitting the names, candidates will have to submit their addresses and contact numbers along with the form.

“The party’s intention is to select genuine candidates. The application form to get a ticket is lengthy. It will surely take at least seven days to complete the form,” said Sripal Kumawat, a ticket aspirant from Ringas.

Despite all such details, the party has sought more information from candidates. They include personal information about the candidate, caste, and no-objection certificate from panchayat and zila parishad to ensure that no amount is outstanding.

It also includes documents to ensure that there are no criminal charges or any type of case against the candidate.
