Husband, accomplice held for woman's murder

Arun kept harassing Ramya to get more dowry

The Ramamurthy Nagar police have arrested a man and his friend for murdering the former’s wife. 

Ramya, 22, was found murdered near Kadusonnappanahalli under Bagalur police limits on December 29. 

According to police, the accused are Arun, 22, Ramya’s husband and his friend Srinivas, 27, an autorickshaw driver, both residents of Kalyan Nagar. They had killed Ramya, a resident of Ramamurthy Nagar, by stabbing her repeatedly.On December 30, a few passersby noticed the body and informed the police. Missing complaint filed
The Bagalur police got to know that a missing complaint was lodged in Ramamurthy Nagar police station on December 29 and when they checked with the latter, it was confirmed that the deceased was Ramya.
The police went to the house of Ramya’s parents and informed them that their daughter was found dead. 

The parents told the police that on December 29, Arun called up Ramya and told her that it was his birthday and wanted to take her out. She went with him, not to return home. They filed a missing complaint with the police, suspecting that Arun might have kidnapped her.

The police tracked Arun and arrested him. During interrogation, he revealed that he took her out on December 29 to celebrate his birthday. He first took her to a Coffee Day outlet near Kasthuri Nagar and then told her that he would take her elsewhere. As they were going in the car’, along with Srinivas, the duo stabbed her to death, dumped her body and fled. The police also traced Srinivas and arrested him. He too confessed to the crime.

Against parents’ consentRamya was working for a matrimonial website and Arun with a private company. They both met a few months ago and got married without the consent of the parents. A couple of months ago, Arun stopped going to work.  He started pestering her to get dowry from her parents’ house. A dowry harassment complaint was filed against Arun in Ramamurthy Nagar police station, but he kept harassing her. She then returned to her parents’ house. He asked her to come back, but she refused.
