Few tips for phase II CAT aspirants

Students will have to relive the same levels of stress to crack the toughest entrance test again on January 30 and 31. Some of the tips for candidates who will appear for the CAT phase II are:

*Choose the section viz English, Quantitative Ability or Data Interpretation and Analytical Ability, type and order of questions to be tackled first.

*Decide on time to be spent on each section, allocate equal or slightly more time to sections that candidates are comfortable with.

*Have a vague idea of the number of questions to be attempted in various sections. This will ensure a candidate’s sectional cut offs.

*Have some time at the end to cross check and verify certain questions.

*Read the instructions, number of questions in each section carefullyand look out for any differential marking in any of the sections.

*Ensure that each section has sufficient time, solve the paper based on startegy and manage time.

Attempt reading comprehension, analytical reasoning, which require a higher degree of concentration at the beginning.

*Mock tests and practice tests will help in guaging the difficulty levels in each section.

*Do not indulge in guesswork, attempt for an overall accuracy level of close to 80 -90 percent.

*Although CAT is computer-based, try and scan through a few questions to see the and number of questions it comprises in each section.
