Kagodu again castigates slow pace of govt work

Legislative Assembly Speaker Kagodu Thimmappa on Monday again expressed dissatisfaction over the slow pace of functioning of the State government and said a lot needs to be done to make the administration effective.

Speaking after inaugurating a computer training programme for the employees of Karnataka State Electronics Development Corporation Limited, he said e-governance was introduced a decade ago in the State. But the administration has not improved on expected lines. “The principal of an ITI college of Hosanagar submitted an application to the tahsildar, seeking a plot for the college building six months ago. Even today, the application is languishing in the tahsildar’s office. Is this transparent governance?” he said.

“One has to give Rs 5,000 bribe for a ration card. People are forced to come to Vidhana Soudha for everything. The government employees are supposed to work between 10.30 am and 5.30 pm. But many of them come at 11 am and leave office by 5 pm,” he stated.
