The State government will come out with a people-friendly Akrama-Sakrama scheme and ensure its applicability for all type of sites.

Speaking to reporters in Bangalore on Tuesday, Transport Minister R Ashok, who heads a Cabinet committee to review the scheme, said the government will soon consult legal experts and seek their advice on how to overcome the hurdles on the applicability of the scheme to sites which have been acquired by development authorities like the BDA.

He said as per a Supreme Court direction sites acquired by development authorities cannot be denotified. A way out was to bring in required amendments to the BDA and land revenue acts, the minister pointed out. Sakrama scheme on regularisation of building bylaw violations has been kept on hold for more than a year. “If we go ahead with the scheme without the changes, it will not benefit all,” Ashok said.
