ADGP (Recruitment and training), Raghavendra H Auradkar on Tuesday advised the new recruits attached to Karnataka State Industrial Security Force (KSISF) to maintain discipline on all counts during service.

Addressing the successful 192 trainee police constables belonging to the second troop of the first batch of the State’s Industrial Security Force, at the passing out parade held at the City Armed Reserve (CAR) police grounds, Auradkar said discipline was the essential ingredient for the policemen both in professional and personal lives.

Quit bad habits

He advised the policemen to quit bad habits if any, especially smoking, drinking and chewing tobacco. “Such habits will not only have a bearing on your pockets, but also have a toll on your health, eventually disturbing peace at home.”

Reminding the policemen about their duties, Auradkar said unlike other government departments, policemen had a rare opportunity to serve the public in the best possible way, especially by saving the lives of others in the line of duty.

Recalling the efforts behind the making of KSISF,  Auradkar said the proposal to form the force was mooted when he was the principal secretary of the Home department in 2011, and the same was modelled after the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), to step up security at the vital installations like dams, factories, among others in the State.

Prize winners

Chetan R won the first prize in indoor activities, followed by Rakesh D J. In the outdoor category, Nagaraju M N won the first prize and Krishna P second prize.

Basavaraj Satale and Siddagangaiah S K won first and second prizes, respectively in rifle shooting. Umesh Belgaonkar was adjudged all round best and Krishna D was awarded for good character during the training period.

Majority graduates

In his address DCP (CAR) B Shivanna, also the principal of police training school said, majority of the 111 outgoing constables were graduates, followed by 14 post-graduates, PUC and ITI holders among others.
