CBI transfers officers in the backdrop of controversy

Amid a controversy over a senior bureacrat trying to stall the arrest of former Union minister Matang Sinh, the CBI on Wednesday undertook major rejig of Joint Directors with Ashok Tiwari, who was supervising the probe in 2G spectrum scam being transferred to MDMA, which is probing Rajiv Gandhi assassination.

The charge of Tiwari has been handed over to Anurag Garg who was looking after Training. The premier probe agency has termed it a routine exercise.

Prabodh Kumar, who has been handling major corruption cases including Tatra truck scam, AgustaWestland case among others, has been transferred to Banking Services and Fraud Section while R P Agrawal has been given charge of anti-corruption wing of the agency.

Rajeev Sharma who was handling Banking Services and Fraud Section has been transferred to Economic Offences Zone-I besides looking after anti-corruption branches of Chandigarh Nagpur, Jabalpur and Bhopal.

R S Bhatti, who is in charge of policy, media relations and CBI's snooping wing Special Unit, has been given additional charge of Technical and Forensic unit.
