The Rotary Club of Bangalore (RCB), along with The Taj West End, is hosting the next edition of ‘Kala for Vidya’, an art exhibition from February 6 to 8 at the Art Corridor, The Taj West End, Race Course Road.

The works of India’s top painters such as Jatin Das,  SG Vasudev, Gurudas Shenoy, Milind Nayak, Narayan Muniyappa, Paresh Hazra and Yusuf Arakkal will be showcased at the venue.

Not only is the exhibition a platform for emerging artists, it also supports the education of more than 500 girls and boys from the underprivileged sections at Rotary Bangalore Vidyalaya, Nagadevanahalli. Funds from the exhibition will also go towards the construction of schools in the Malur area of rural Bengaluru.

This has been taking place for the last eight years and acts as an important platform for art connoisseurs, emerging artists and art lovers to meet and interact. The show was curated by Amita Shenoy.

With an aim to help underprivileged children, the charitable event has seen good attendance. Rotarian Shailesh Rudra was present at the event. Rotarian Ram Kumarr Seshu, RCB President, said that every child has a dream and when we have the power to represent them and help make their dreams come true, we should.

“This is a ‘win win win win situation’ - it’s a win for the artist because they get to showcase their talent, for the kids because they get to attend school, for the viewers because they get to see beautiful works of art and for the Rotarians because we get to help a cause,” he said.

Shridhar Chari, one of the members associated with the art event, said, “This will contribute to the children’s education. And this is a good platform for artists to showcase their work.” Gurudas Shenoy, an artist who was also present at the event, also agreed that this was a great platform for artists to collaborate.

The event is organised by the Rotary Club of Bangalore in association with The Taj West End.

More than 5,000 prominent citizens and art connoisseurs will be seen at the event. ‘Kala for Vidya’ is scheduled to take place from 7 pm to 9 pm on February 6 and from 11 am to 9 pm on February 7 and 8.
