Kumaraswamy attacks Govt for "failure" on various fronts

Last Updated 09 February 2015, 16:03 IST

JD(S) Leader and former Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy today targeted the government on its "failure" in resolving the issues of farmers in the state, and on the Arkavathi layout de-notification row.

Speaking on the motion of thanks to the Governor for his address in the Assembly, he criticized the government for its handling the issues of Maize, Sugarcane, Tur and Paddy farmers and the problems they are facing in getting a fair price for their produce.
He said government has to seriously take steps in solving the issues of these farmers. It has been two years in government but they have failed in handling any of the issues relating to farmers.

Highlighting incidents of farmer's suicide in North Karnataka, he expressed fears that government's attitude may lead to rise in such cases.

On the issue of land encroachments, Kumaraswamy accused government of not taking action against large encroachers but only against the small encroachers.

Targeting government on the Arkavathy Layout land de notification issue, he said "I was silent on the issue all this time, but had to interfere as the Chief Minister sought to involve my name in the issue."

Kumaraswamy recently released a 500-page book on the Arkavathy denotification saga.
He also questioned government on several loopholes in the CID report on alleged Karnataka State Public Service Commission (KPSC) recruitment scam.
