Now romance adult style

Changing mindsets and technological revolution has given a new definition to Valentine’s Day celebration. It is much more than gifting teddy bear and cards.

The psychological drift is visible, thanks to the popularity of EL James’s Fifty Shades of Grey, the book almost every youngster is hooked to while commuting in the Metro.

Adding spice to the love life with raunchy stuff is not a new concept, but online portals, these days, are playing an important role to add a bit of fun to the relationship, especially this Valentine’s Day.

Take for instance Privatelyurs.com which has games like the Fleur D’Amour (Flower of Love) or Bondage Seduction, to celebrate the season of love the right way.

Each petal of the Fleur D’Amour comes printed with a fun and kinky thing to do with the partner. Peel back the petals to reveal sensual activities. The petals bend back into place so the game is reusable and attractive to display.

If your fantasy is to be blindfolded, whipped, or tied up, the exclusive Bondage Seduction allows you to safely explore the curious world of restraints, dominance, pleasura-ble pain, and submissiveness!

Rajiv Ghosh, COO of Privatelyurs.com has been actively working with an adult wellness company in UK for some time. He says, “The sale of adult stuff is generally high in UK especially at the time of Valentine’s Day. We wanted to explore the same market in India as well.” For this Ghosh and his team did an eight-month survey in the country and launched the online shopping portal in December last year.

“People want to explore stuff but the industry is not open to them. Surprisingly, there is huge demand in the market but people cannot buy it because the stuff is not easily available and secondly, they are not comfortable buying it despite the fact they want to explore it,” says Ghosh.

After three months of the start-up, Ghosh is reaping the benefits now. “We have received a good response so far. But the sales have really gone up from the first week of January. We have the biggest customer base in Bangalore, Gurgaon and Gujarat.” Interestingly, a majority of those going in for purchases from this portal fall under the age group 20-55 years.

Similar is the case with Blissbasket.com, started by 28-year-old Mayur Masrani. “Eighty-three per cent of the customers on our website are in the age group 24-40 years. There is another section of people in 41-60 years of age,” says Masrani.“According to a survey nearly 78 per cent of people buy adult items as wedding gifts  for their friends, while more than 90 per cent in the age group of 18 -24 buy the stuff for personal use. Definitely, Valentine’s Day comes as a day for people to explore their fantasies.”

According to Masrani, from January 30 onwards, sales have increased four-old. “People don’t want to restrict themselves to cards, teddy bears and other gifting items. Couples want to act romantic and therefore they are more interested in adult games spicing up their life. There has been a shift in mindset, as people are getting more aware about their sexual life. They, of course, don’t want to miss any such special occasion where they can take their romance a step further,” says Masrani.

Both the entrepreneurs believe e-commerce has given people a chance to explore and live their fantasies.
