The district Kannada literary meet will be held on February 27 and 28, said MLA C T Ravi. Speaking at a preparatory meeting on Saturday, he said that the procession of Kannada literary meet president will be taken out from DACG Polytechnic. The procession will pass through main streets and will have 10 tablaeux.
On February 27, there will be Nritya Gayana by Manjula Parameshwar while Creation Bengaluru will stage a programme on February 28.
The estimated expenditure for the literary meet is Rs 20 lakh. So far, Rs 6 lakh has been raised. The remaining fund has been decided to collect from Gram Panchayats. A few GPs have already given the fund, said DC B S Shekarappa.
He said that it has been decided to raise donation from all the 33 gram panchayats. Donations will be raised from government schools by giving five books to the school.
The fund raising will be started from Sunday. As a part of the literary meet, district level poets meet will be organised. The literary meet will have five sessions.
Karnataka Rakshana Vedike President Thegooru Jagadish said that the name plates in English should be removed in commercial complexes.
