Class 10 girl hangs herself

A 14-year-old student committed suicide at her residence in Austin Town under Ashok Nagar police limits on Friday night.

The police said that the deceased has been identified as Haritha, a class 10 student at a private school. Her father Ganesh works for BEML while mother Parameshwarai is a homemaker.

On Friday around 11 pm, Haritha had dinner with her parents and went to her room with her mother’s cellphone. She did not wake up even after 7 am on Saturday. After a couple of hours, her parents knocked on the door her room and did not get any response.

Ganesh suspected that something wrong and with help of his neighbours, broke open the door when Harshita was found hanging from the ceiling. They informed the police, who shifted the body for post-mortem.

The parents informed the police that their daughter was doing good in her studies. But recently she did not farewell in her exams and was also worried about clearing the upcoming SSLC exam.

There was no death note found and also she had deleted the call details and messages from the mobile phone. The police are trying to retrieve the recent call details to ascertain the exact reason for her to kill herself. A case has been registered.
