Autorickshaw driver killed in love triangle

A 20-year-old man was stabbed to death by the live-in partner of a woman in Ghaziabad last month for having a relationship with her.

The body was found dumped in northeast Delhi’s Gokulpuri on February 7, police said on Monday.

Delhi Police on Sunday arrested two men and a women.
On February 3, a missing person report of an autorickshaw driver Vijay Gaurav was filed with Jyoti Nagar police station. Vijay, a resident of Amar Colony in East Gokulpuri, was missing since January 27.

While police were trying to trace him, a decomposed body was found with multiple stab wounds in a drain in Gokulpuri.

“The body was of Vijay and a toddler’s clothes were found tied around his waist,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (North East) R A Sanjeev.

Several persons were questioned by police who learnt that Vijay was last seen by another autorickshaw driver Sumit Kumar on January 30.

Sumit told police that he had seen Vijay with a woman aged about 30 and a child at Durga Puri Chowk in Shahdara.

The woman was identified as Babli, a resident of Loni in Uttar Pradesh. Police then questioned over 1,000 autorickshaw drivers in Behta and Loni localities of UP. Babli was finally traced on Sunday.

“Babli tried to mislead police, but later confessed that Vijay was killed by her live-in partner Sonu Verma and two of his friends Lokesh and Shiva on January 30,” Sanjeev added.

Vijay was smothered and then stabbed multiple times.

Babli told police that she is a widow and was having an affair with 25-year-old Sonu.

Marriage plans

They planned were living together at Loni in Ghaziabad and planned to get married soon.
“Vijay recently came in contact with Babli and had developed feelings for her. Sonu was annoyed as Vijay also visited Babli’s house uninvited,” Sanjeev said.

Vijay continued to be in contact with Babli despite repeated warnings by Sonu. On January 30, Sonu along with friends Lokesh and Shiva attacked Vijay when he went to Babli’s house.

After killing Vijay, they hired an autorickshaw and told the driver that their relative was seriously ill and needed to be shifted to a hospital.

Sonu along with Babli, Lokesh and Shiva took the body to Gokulpuri and dumped it in Shiv Vihar drain.

Police arrested Sonu, Lokesh and Babli on Sunday, but Shiva is absconding.
