Drinking water, bad sewage system are on Chauhan's agenda

Last Updated 23 February 2015, 07:33 IST

Patel Nagar MLA Hajari Lal Chauhan has set solving drinking water and sewage problem in the area as his top priority.

The Aam Aadmi Party leader, who defeated Krishna Tirath of the Bharatiya Janata Party, has not set a deadline but promises to give a permanent solution for the twin trouble in the constituency.
“We will come out with a plan to deal with the problem. It might take some time, therefore giving any timeframe is not possible. We will try our best to rid this constituency of water shortage,” he said.

The newly-elected Arvind Kejriwal government is working overtime to fulfill its promises, he said.
“AAP has talked to the Centre regarding the problems and appropriate action will be taken very soon to speed up the work,” he said.

Chauhan said his focus will be on involving experts to offer solutions to the people.
“I have decided to involve experts to chalk out a plan. We will look for a scientific method and implement it soon in the city,” he added.

Chauhan said there is a demand and supply gap in water availability. “The government has already taken steps to map the resources,” he said. We will have to go about augmenting supply to residential areas in Patel Nagar area in a phased manner, he added.

Water availability
“Let me assure you that the approaching summer will be better in terms of water availability in the area,” he said.

The AAP government will gradually work toward fulfilling its election promise of “water for all” with 20,000 litres free water per month for all.

How did he manage to win over voters?

“In every constituency, people saw characteristics and personality of the candidates. And believe me, when I was campaigning, we virtually met every person in the constituency and they fully supported Arvind Kejriwal,” he said.
