11-year-old girl's head severed in accident

 In a freak accident reported near Kakotupurambu in the taluk on Saturday, an 11-year-old girl met a tragic end after a mini truck coming in opposite direction crashed into her head. The impact was such that the head of the victim got separated from her torso.

The victim has been identified as Sahana. The victim was travelling, along with her parents, by Madikere-Bengaluru route bus belonging to Malur depot. She put her head out of moving bus to vomit.

The chicken-laden mini truck  crashed into her head, severing it from torso. The truck driver sped away after the incident. The police arrested the driver at Murnad and seized the vehicle.

The accident triggered a protest as the irate locals blocked the road for a while. DySP Kumar Chandra, CPI K R Prasad, Virajpet police station PI Nanjundaswamy visited the spot and pacified the agitators.
