In an incident attributed to the animosity between the corporator and ex-corporator of Ward No 58, the latter attempted to murder the former, here, on Monday.
The incident occurred around 11.30 am, when corporator Fairoz Khan, along with Mysuru City Corporation employees was conducting an inspection of the underground drainage works taken up.
When the inspection was on, ex-corporator Anwar Baig, stormed out of his house and objected to the inspection taken up and verbally abused them.
Following this, Anwar brought machetes from his house in a bid to attack Fairoz. However, locals succeeded in preventing him from attacking.
Following the incident, Fairoz Khan, along with MCC officials, lodged a complaint against Anwar and his brother Sarkar, at Udayagiri police station.

Following allegations of obstructing Women’s Day programme organised by the district administration, Commissioner of Police M A Saleem has ordered a probe into the dispute.
On Sunday, the celebrations were marred as head constable of Devaraja police station, Subbesh, had an altercation with Zilla Panchayat president Pushpa Amarnath, over the rally and human chain at K R Circle, held as part of the celebrations.
Gambling: Police arrest 10
Mysuru CCB police raided a gambling den in the city and arrested ten persons, on Monday.
Acting on a tip off, CCB personnel raided Kenchappa New Building in Saraswathipuram second cross. Police personnel seized Rs 53,600 placed as bets and 10 mobile phones from the accused.
A case has been registered at the Saraswathipuram police station.
