Magnum fest today

Department of Commerce of Mangalore University will organise two-day state-level post graduation fest ‘Magnum’ at the university campus on March 10 and 11.

Briefing reporters, Commerce Department Chairman Prof A Raghuram said Mangalore University Vice Chancellor Prof K Byrappa will be guest of honour. Udayavani News Bureau Chief Manohar Prasad is chief guest. In order to develop the personality of students six competitions will be conducted.

The competitions are—’jungle jingle’—creating new things in advertisement field and come up with a unique product with creative ideas; ‘head hunting’—management of human resources with patience and intelligence; ‘wizard’— to manage the life blood of business effectively; ‘King of the jungle’—leader one who manage all the events using his overall intelligence towards his success; ‘hunter’—formulating marketing strategies to win over the competitor and ‘Macaques’—it is a game of mind and timing where
the competitor challenges himself.

Prof Raghuram said the department in the past helped economically backward students pay part of their fees with surplus funds left over after organising the fest and also helped in the purchase of books for the department library, he said.

Last year, the surplus funds helped to pay fees of 10 such students with each student benefitting a sum of Rs 3,000. Books worth Rs 20,000 were purchased for the library. This initiative will be continued even this year, he said.
