The actor, who played the superhero 'Spiderman' in the last three films has left the fourth movie along with helmer Sam Raimi. The director and the studio never agreed over the script of the movie.

The Columbia Pictures is now planning to make a high school version of the superhero drama with a new starcast, which will release in 2012, the Variety reported.
Columbia had confirmed last week that 'Spider Man 4' was on hold indefinitely due to script problems. The studio already had a back up plan with James Vanderbilt-penned script about a teenage Peter Parker ready to shoot. The studio is yet to rope in a director and a starcast for the new film.

The new untitled Spider Man film will center on the webslinging teen as he struggles with both human problems and amazing super-human crises.
"Columbia has a rare opportunity to make history once again with this franchise. We're very excited about the creative possibilities that come from returning to Peter's roots," said Studio co-chairman Amy Pascal.

Raimi, who has quit the franchise, hopes that the new movie does well.
"While we were looking forward to doing a fourth one together, the studio and Marvel have a unique opportunity to take the franchise in a new direction, and I know they will do a terrific job," he said.
