Call to make Ullal a model CMC

The development of Ullal will be a reality soon if citizens stove towards maintaining peace Ullal, Minister for Health and Family Welfare U T Khader said.

He was speaking after distributing free LPG connections to the beneficiaries at Ullal City Municipal Council office on Wednesday. With distribution of free gas kits, Ullal has become the first kerosene free CMC in the nation.

This had added to the reputation to UIlal, he said and told people to utilise the facility to prepare healthy food. The CMC has taken initiative towards provided identity cards to street vendors, he said.

Khader, meanwhile, sought the cooperation of people towards the overall development of Ullal and to make it a model CMC in the state. Development will be possible only  if the people maintain peace and order, he said.

He recalled that his father and legislator U T Farid had to face lot of criticisms during the establishment of Mangalore University in Konaje. But, in a due course of time, several medical and engineering colleges were started in Ullal, adding to the progress of the region, he said.

Fishers of Ullal have been facing problems in anchoring boats in Mangaluru and this has adversely affected their business. As per the memorandum submitted by them, a plan has been drafted towards the construction of jetty in Kotepur.

He assured of constructing a small jetty initially at a cost of Rs four core and later widening it as per the extension in the business. This will make people coming to Mangaluru from Kerala for fish, rely upon Ullal and eventually will help in the development of U T Khader added.
