The new bus stand in Hassan city, has been in news for all the wrong reasons right from the day it had started functioning a couple of years ago.

People had complained against the shopkeepers on the premises for fleecing the customers by charging more for the articles. However, this had been slowly brought under control. But, now the residents have raised their voice against the irregularities over the collection of parking fee at the bus stand. The problem was brought to the attention of the KSRTC officials and a notice has been issued to the respective contractor.

The complaint stated that despite KSRTC indicating that parking fee be collected on per hour basis, the employees were charging more, sometimes even triple the amount.

For instance, parking fee for a car for 24 hours is Rs 15, but the amount collected is Rs 40. Even two wheelers are not spared. Notwithstanding this the public brought the irregularities to the notice of the KSRTC officials, who in turn have issued a notice to the contractor.

But, ironically the contractor has not taken the issue seriously, and arguments between the vehicle owners and the employees collecting fee can be observed everyday.

There were also complaints about the lack of safety of the parked vehicles, and miscreants stealing petrol from the same. After the complaint, a CCTV camera was installed on the premises, but petrol theft still continues, lament the people.
