Food and Civil Supplies Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao’s tweets on the mysterious death of IAS officer D K Ravi have created a flutter in the ruling Congress party.

The minister has in one of his tweets said the ongoing CID probe into the case will be a reflection on the government. “D K Ravi’s death probe will be a reflection on our government. If we can’t do it in a transparent, diligent way, then we have no business to be in the govt,” he stated.

In another tweet, Rao said the issue would definitely be handed over to the CBI if there were any unanswered questions left after the CID probe. “Let’s first ascertain what exactly happened..& if there are unanswered questions, matter can definitely be handed over to CBI,” he stated.

Though none in the Congress has openly commented on his tweets, a section of the leaders believes that the tweets may provide ammunition to the Opposition parties who are already up in arms against the government.

When contacted, Rao, however, defended himself saying his tweets could be interpreted in different ways. “My tweets are intended at defending the government. The CID is conducting a thorough investigation. All facts will be dug out and a detailed and transparent report will soon be placed on the floor of the Assembly. I am confident about it,” he said.
