Protesters switch to celebration mode

Protests planned to demand CBI inquiry into the mysterious death of IAS officer D K Ravi turned into celebrations on Monday, with the government’s announcement to hand over the case to the central investigating agency.

On Monday, when the members of Samata Sainik Dal gathered at the Anand Rao Circle to stage a protest expressing anguish over the government for dilly dallying in ordering a CBI inquiry. Just then, the announcement was made by the government. Within minutes, the mood changed from anger to happiness, with the members calling it a vindication of their stand.

Another protest which was scheduled to be held in the evening by the Karnataka Auto and Taxi Drivers Association near Mysore Bank Circle was cancelled.
