Akrama Sakrama: Good response for appln forms

Last Updated 25 March 2015, 18:27 IST

Following the launch of ‘Akrama Sakrama’ scheme, people in large numbers thronged the zonal offices of Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) to avail application forms. Over 600 forms have been sold across nine zonal offices of the civic body.

According to the statistics available, as many as 666 forms were issued on Wednesday with the highest of 200 forms distributed at the office of zone one, against the lowest of eight at the office of zone five. A total of 139 forms were issued at zone nine, 100 at each zone two and three, 80 at zone seven, 25 at zone six and 14 at zone four.

At zone three, an estimated 500 people had turned up to buy the forms against 100 supplied from the main office. The disappointed people took the staff at the counter to task. They were pacified and diverted towards the MCC main office to register their grievances.

T Jaware Gowda, Zonal Commissioner of zone two at Jayanagar, told Deccan Herald,

“The response was encouraging and those who could not get the application forms were asked to come back on Thursday”.

When Deccan Herald did a reality check at zone one office on Thyagaraja Road, Fifth Cross, Next to Akkana Balaga School, people were waiting in a serpentine queue to obtain the forms. While one counter was opened to distribute and receive the challan for the application forms, another counter was opened by the ING Vysya Bank to collect the prescribed fee of Rs 60. Of the four challans, two are retained by the bank, while one is retained by the MCC.

The remaining challan is handed over to the applicant along with the handbook comprising the application forms in three different colours — green, yellow and  pink — and related information on the types of violations to be regularised under the scheme.
The violations regarding set back and floor area ratio (FAR) should be filled in green form, illegal sites in yellow form and illegal construction in pink form. The amount will be fixed depending on the violations, pending Supreme Court order.

The MCC started to distribute application forms from Tuesday against Monday as announced earlier. However, owing to the delay in the supply of forms to zonal offices, the people had to return disappointed, cursing the authorities concerned on Monday.
As a result, though the forms were issued on Tuesday, there was a lukewarm response. As a result around 200 forms were distributed on the day. However, the numbers grew manifold on Wednesday and is set to increase in the coming days, said an official at the MCC.
