In a rare gesture, President Pranab Mukherjee has decided to sidestep protocol and present the highest civilian award Bharat Ratna to former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee at his residence in New Delhi on March 27.
Bharat Ratna will be presented to freedom fighter and educationist Madan Mohan Malviya’s family members on March 30 at Rashtrapati Bhavan. For years now, Vajpayee has not been keeping well forcing him to stay within his Krishna Memon Marg residence.
