Minister for Tourism & Higher Education R V Deshpande said blanket period was demanded while entrusting the case of IAS officer D K Ravi’s suspicious death to CBI, was owing to the requirement of speedy result.

He asserted that the government is not concealing anything. It is transparent in its approach towards solving the mystery behind the death. He said that the blanket period of three months was demanded only for requirement of speedy inquiry, as usually CBI handling the case would take long period for the outcome.

Defending the chief minister for not entrusting the case to CBI in the initial stages, he said CM had already assured in the legislative meet that the concrete decision would be taken up following the status report by the CID in the case. He never ruled out the possibilities of giving over the case to CBI. He said there is no as such honey taping in the case and the rumors are always entertained following the high profile cases. He added that the government finally decided to hand over the case to CBI following the public opinion. The government is transparent, he reiterated.

Quiet on expansion
He declined to comment on the cabinet expansion and the inclusion and exclusion of the ministers during the reshuffle. He said the colleges and universities are directed to take stringent security measures for the safety of the females following Gautami’s murder in Bengaluru.

They are ordered to introduce CCTv in the campus within the specified time frame, he added.
