The 47-year-old actor, who portrayed the role of a heroic naval pilot in the popular 1986 film ‘Top Gun’, will be the guest of honour at the upcoming seventh annual Living Legends of Aviation Awards, Contactmusic reported.

Cruise, who was recently voted as the world’s sexiest short man, will be honoured by one-time man on the moon, Dr Edwin ‘Buzz’ Aldrin. He will present Cruise with the coveted prize at the Beverly Hilton hotel on January 22.

The Legends event is produced by the Kiddie Hawk Air Academy, a non-profit organisation that introduces children to aviation. Celebrity pilots John Travolta, Morgan Freeman and Kurt Russell are expected to be among those honouring Cruise.
