Indo- China workshop from today

Mega- Regional Development and Environmental Change in India, a two-day workshop on development and environment issues will begin Tuesday.

Speakers from China and India will address issues relating to development and also touch upon the development works proposed around the Bengaluru- Mangaluru- Chennai industrial corridor.

The workshop is being organised by the Centre for Environmental Sciences and Centre for Infrastructure, Sustainable Transportation and Urban Planning (CiSTUP), Indian Institute of Science (IISc). The scope of the workshop is to explore the local and national variations in regional dynamics, assessing effects on environmental change and deriving policy- relevant findings with the understanding of local dynamics to mitigate environmental consequences.

Speaking to Deccan Herald, Prof TV Ramachandra, Energy and Wetlands Research Group, CES, IISc, said  India is following on the footsteps of China in terms of development strategies. The workshop is important in the wake of the debated land acquisition bill in New Delhi.
