Join the politics of change: Irani tells Rahul

Last Updated 12 May 2015, 12:31 IST

Union Minister Smriti Irani today asked Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi to join her for "politics of change" for Amethi's development.

Irani was responding to Gandhi's allegation that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was practicing "politics of revenge" and not politics of change which had been promised by him (Modi).

"If Rahul Gandhi wishes for politics of change, he should join me in Amethi," Irani told reporters here.

Gandhi had last week attacked Modi over the cancellation of a food park project in his constituency.

She said the Narendra Modi government is working towards all round development of the country, including farmers.

Earlier, Irani, accompanied by Minister of State for Agriculture Sanjiv Balyan, had met farmers here. "Rest of all wheat of farmers, may it be thin or thick, will be purchased by the government," she said.

She also met family members of the farmers who had committed suicide following damage to crops due to unseasonal rains and hailstorm in the state.

She also addressed 'Kisan Panchayats' in Raja Fattepur, Molvi ka Purwa in Tiloi Assembly segment and in Gauriganj.

The Minister was shown black flag by some NSUI activists while she was on her way to Mahso to address a panchayat.
