AirAsia starts Delhi ops today, SpiceJet offers anniversary sale

Low-cost carrier AirAsia India will start its operations in Delhi on Thursday, while SpiceJet marks its tenth anniversary with a “Celebration Sale.” 

“Our planes landed in Delhi on Tuesday night, and we are  all geared up to paint the skies red,” AirAsia India CEO Mittu Chandilya tweeted on Wednesday. Meanwhile, SpiceJet marks its tenth anniversary with a “Celebration Sale.”

The airline on Tuesday announced a three-day sale with fares starting from all-inclusive Rs 1,010. Fliers can book the tickets until May 21 for travel between July 1 and October 15. The airline witnessed a 400 per cent increase in bookings on the first day with New Delhi-Srinagar and Mumbai-Goa routes being hits, while other top routes were Kolkata- New Delhi and Mumbai-New Delhi. From South India, Bengaluru-New Delhi route was in demand, an airline statement said.

Airline Chief Operating Officer Sanjiv Kapoor said, the airline has “helped fundamentally transform the airline industry in India with its network, pricing, promotions, product, branding, and marketing initiatives.”
