Fake caste certificates: MLA, DCP among 4 summoned

A sitting MLA and three others have been issued notices by the Mysuru District SC and ST Caste Verification Committee for obtaining fake caste certificates.

The committee has asked Krishnaraja MLA M K Somashekar, also a trusted aide of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, former Bannur MLA K M Chikkamada Nayak, DCP (CAR) M Shivanna and B R Gopamma, wife of KPSC member Prof (retd) H Govindaiah to appear for enquiry on Monday. 

Somashekar is facing the charge of obtaining a false caste certificate as ‘Kadu Kuruba’ that actually comes under the ST category. Both Nayaka and Shivanna had obtained Nayaka certificates, according to Congress leader S H Subash, the complainant in the three cases. Gopamma is accused of obtaining a false certificate as SC, following a complaint by an activist R S Mahadev.

The four will have to appear before the committee on the day at 11 am to record their statements, according to the notice.
