A drug dealer has been held with one kilo heroin whose international worth is estimated to be around Rs 4 crore, police said on Sunday. The 48-year-old drug dealer has already been convicted in one of four other cases of drug smuggling in the past.

A native of Shamli in Uttar Pradesh, accused Rampal would smuggle the drugs from his home state for supply into the national capital, police alleged. He was nabbed on Sunday near Loni Flyover in east Delhi.

Police said they were acting on a tip-off that Rampal would arrive at that location to deliver a consignment of heroin to his contacts. Along with one kilo of heroin, police also seized his mobile phone and motorcycle.

Police said they had been working on information about Rampal’s activities in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and other adjoining states.

His interrogation revealed that he has a strong network of supply of the drugs in Delhi, Harayana, UP, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, police alleged.

Rampal had arrived in Delhi 28 years ago and worked various jobs while staying in rented accommodations in east Delhi. He was into the drug trade for the last 20 years, it is alleged.

“Initially he came in contact with local drug peddlers and started indulging in supply of heroin in Trans Yamuna areas. Rampal was last arrested in 2011 with 300 grams of heroin. In 2002 he and a woman drug peddler Manjula were nabbed with 2.5 kilo heroin,” police said.
