Modi trying dictatorship: Kejri

Last Updated 27 May 2015, 20:18 IST

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday accused the Centre with trying to impose “national dictatorship”.

A seething Kejriwal said as part of a conspiracy, the Central government is using Lt Governor (L-G) Najeeb Jung to create hurdles in the AAP government’s work to defame it. “A very dangerous experiment is being conducted in Delhi and very soon newly appointed governors will start troubling non-BJP governments in other states. They want dictatorship,” he said.

“I appeal to all non-BJP chief ministers to join hands, otherwise a change will not come about,” said Kejriwal, promising to write to chief ministers of all the non-BJP ruled states to warn them against the NDA government’s “conspiracy”.

“This is not a Constitutional issue…this is a political issue. The Centre is trying to fail the AAP government. But we will continue our fight,” he said.

He also accused the Centre of trying to use the notification to amend the Constitution by bypassing Parliament.

Participating in a discussion, Kejriwal protested against the Centre’s attempt to usurp the power of appointing Delhi government officials. “We should have the right to select our officers and team,” he said.

Kejriwal said the L-G was ordering demolition in slums despite a stay by the AAP government. “They now want to control transfer-posting of bureaucrats so that they can plant their people in key departments like power, water and transport and bring down the system for defaming the AAP government,” said Kejriwal.
