Tejas, Drithi grab fine double

Tejas Sanjay Kallolkar and Drithi Yatheesh bagged a fine double each in the under-15 boys’ and girls’ sections respectively in the Skyfinch State-ranking Sub-junior badminton tournament here on Sunday.

In the boys’ category, Tejas beat Vankuri Shashankreddy 23-21, 21-10 in the singles final before going on to grab the doubles crown with partner Ajinkya G Joshi. The duo beat Pruthvi K Roy and Saket CS 21-17, 21-10 in the summit clash.

In the girls’ section, Drithi posted a 21-9, 21-19 victory over Shivani Pathi to emerge singles champion.  On Saturday, Dhrithi had combined with Ramya CV to win the doubles title as they went on to beat Sheetal D and Trisha Hegde 6-21, 21-15, 21-19 in a tough encounter.

Doubles: Ajinkya G Joshi/Tejas bt Pruthvi K Roy/Saket CS 21-17, 21-18.
U-13: Boys singles: Naren S Iyer bt Vishesh Sharma 21-15, 21-16.
Doubles: Suhas V/Vishesh Sharma bt Santrupth H/Sujal Shekar 21-15, 12-21, 21-9.
Girls: U-15: Singles: Drithi Yatheesh bt Shivani Pathi 21-9, 21-19.
U-13: Tanya Hemanth bt Vijetha Harish 21-15, 21-12.
