In yet another case of road rage reported from the city, a cab driver bit a man’s finger and broke his teeth after their vehicles accidentally brushed against each other.

The cab driver, identified as Dharmendra, has been arrested. He has claimed that he reacted in self-defence as the other party began thrashing him.

The incident was reported from Bharat Nagar in north-west Delhi at around 8 pm on Saturday. A cab driver, Dharmendra was returning home after dropping a passenger at the airport.

As Dharmendra was driving on a crowded road, his Tata Indica car brushed past a Honda Mobilio car, damaging its rearview mirror in the process.

The Mobilio driver Sidharth emerged from his car and demanded that Dharmendra pay for the damages.

This led to a confrontation between the two upon which Sidharth and his friends allegedly began thrashing Dharmendra.

The cab driver told police that he bit into Sidharth’s hand and punched him on his face after as he was being assaulted from all sides and left with no option.

He then got into his car and locked the door from inside to save himself even as Sidharth and his friends smashed his vehicle. Bystanders rushed to his aid, he has claimed.

Sidharth, on the other hand, has claimed that he and his friends neither beat Sidharth, nor smashed his vehicle.

He claimed that he was just rebuking the cab driver for driving rashly when Dharmendra grabbed his right hand and bit at it. Police were informed of the matter by the bystanders upon which a team arrived at the spot.

Both the parties were taken to Bharat Nagar police station and their complaint received.

Sidharth was thereafter taken to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries. Dharmendra was arrested for the assault.
