Last Updated 07 June 2015, 19:58 IST

Mangaluru and surrounding areas received light showers on Sunday evening. It was a sunny morning as usual and the weather was quite hot till afternoon. However, by evening, thick and dark clouds covered the skies and the city received rainfall.

Some areas of Udupi district received low to moderate rainfall in the last 24 hours.
The cloudy atmosphere that prevailed all through the day led to drizzling in some places of Kundapur.

Kundapur taluk recorded 1.4 mm rainfall, while Udupi and Karkala taluks recorded nil rain. However, the sea erosion menace intensified at Kodibengre village under Paduthonse Gram Panchayat. The huge sea waves washed away the sand bags put across the seashore and houses in the adjacent area are under threat. Seven to eight houses and a few coconut trees face the danger of being damaged.

Meanwhile, the monsoon entered Uttara Kannada district on Sunday. Karwar, the district headquarters received heavy rain. Light rain was reported from Bhatkal, Honnavar, Kumta and Ankola taluks. There was cloudy weather in Karwar since morning and it started raining at 11 am. There was intermittent rain till night. Roadside vendors and fishermen at sea had a tough time due to the showers. Fishing boats remained anchored to the sea.
