A 24-year-old Myanmarese student was killed by three drug addicts after he resisted their robbery bid in west Delhi’s Dabri area. Police have arrested one of the suspects while two others, including a juvenile, continue to abscond.

The incident took place on Wednesday night while the victim Chuach Cue was returning from the local market to his home in Dabri’s Chanakya Market. He was suddenly confronted by three youths armed with knives.

They asked Cue to hand over all his cash and mobile phone to them, but the Delhi University student put up a fight. Sensing trouble from the victim, one of them stabbed him in his chest and fled with his money and mobile phone.

Cue was found lying by the roadside by his countryman and friend Christopher who too was returning from the market. Christopher told police that he turned the injured man to find it to be his friend.

Cue was rushed to Mata Chanan Devi Hospital in Janakpuri. Hospital authorities informed police upon which a case of attempt to murder was registered at Dabri police station. The victim succumbed to his injuries the next day upon which police turned the case into that of a murder. The crime scene was thoroughly inspected, local bad characters questioned and local intelligence was developed.

The breakthrough came on Saturday while a policeman patrolling the area came across one Rahul who was consuming smack. He was questioned at the spot to know if he knew anything about the murderers. Since his answers seemed suspicious, he was taken to the police station. He was asked about his activities on the day of the crime and was grilled when discrepancies in his versions emerged. He finally broke down.

He and his two accomplices, one is a juvenile, intercepted Cue to rob him for buying smack. His accomplices have been identified, police said.
