The High Court has directed the Additional Advocate General, A S Ponnanna, to seek instructions from the government on providing adequate financial assistance to a girl who was injured in the bomb blast outside in Malleswaram on April 17, 2013.
N S Leesha, who was grievously injured in the blast and had to undergo operations to get her leg fixed and spent nearly Rs 10 lakh on the treatment, had moved the High Court, saying the compensation she got was “very less”. She sought a compensation of Rs one crore along with interest, by way of special relief considering her young age and meritorious academic record. She also said the government must formulate a national policy of compensation and rehabilitation of victims of terrorist attacks by setting up a special committee.
Justice A S Bopanna, in his order on Monday, hoped the government would treat it as an exceptional one and take an appropriate decision.
