Aramane Talagur road awaits a facelift

Last Updated 11 June 2015, 17:46 IST

Even as funds have been released by the government towards the repair of Aramane Talagur road, which is one of the backward villages in the taluk, allegation has it that the work has been cornered, owing to political intervention by an influential person.

Asphaltation of 4.5 km road is being carried out with a grant of Rs 40 lakh towards Maliganadu - Sampige Khan road development. The villagers have alleged that the work has been started from Sampige Khan village, which intends to benefit the owner of a private estate alone. The people of Maliganadu and surrounding villages, who fought for good road facilities for all these years, have to walk on bad roads.

While going to Sampige Khan village through Maliganadu, Hosalli, Maidinmakki, Aramane Talaguru and Sampige Khan estate come on the way. Had the work been started from Maliganadu, it could have been extended to Maliganadu, Hosalli, Maidinmakki and Aramane Talaguru, which would have benefited a lot of people. But, as an influential person in Sampige Khan has insisted upon starting the work from Sampige Khan estate, the work is being carried out accordingly. But, this intends to benefit only an individual. Though the villagers had urged the Zilla Panchayat to start the work from Sampige Khan to Maliganadu, asphaltation of only 4.5 km road is being carried out, due to shortage of funds, the alleged.

There is a government school in Aramane Talaguru village and the teachers and the students from Maliganadu, Hosalli and Maidinmakki have to traverse on a rough road. Also, the plights of senior citizen have doubled as the drivers of rented vehicles refuse to come through the pothole-ridden road, the villagers said.
