Sujan, Anarghya claim titles

Sujan Bharadwaj and Anarghya Manjunath registered contrasting wins to emerge Sub-junior boys’ and girls’ champions respectively in the 47th State-ranking table tennis tournament at Canara Union’s Prakash Courts here on Saturday.

Sujan faced little difficulty as he rolled over Samarth Kurdikeri 11-8, 11-3, 11-7 in the boys’ final.

Anarghya, however, had to ward off stiff resistance from Aditi Nandi before coming out a 7-11, 11-6, 4-11, 13-11, 11-5 winner.

Sujan, continuing his fine form, despatched Samarth Kurdikeri with ease in the final.
Though Samarth gave Sujan a tough time in the first game before Sujan could win it 11-8, there was no challenge in the following games as Sujan controlled the tie to win the following to two game to clinch the title.

Earlier in the day, Sujan beat Preetham 11-5, 9-11, 7-11, 11-9, 11-7 to sail through to the final.

Meanwhile, Anarghya eased past Kalyani 11-6, 11-2, 11-8 in her semis clash.
