Elderly man mowed down in hit-and-run case

In a hit-and-run case, a 65-year-old man was mowed down by an unidentified vehicle near the West of Chord Road in Byatarayanapura traffic police station limits on Wednesday night.

Police gave the victim’s name as Vrushabendrappa, a native of Kollegal in Chamarajanagar district. He was crossing the road around 11.30 pm on Wednesday when an unidentified Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) struck him and sped off.

Passersby called the police who rushed to the spot and took the injured man to a hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. The police then informed the man’s family members and shifted the body to the Victoria hospital for post-mortem.

Vrushabendrappa had come to Bengaluru to some errands. A case has been registered at the Byatarayanapura traffic police station and hunt is on for the vehicle. Police are also trying to get clues from the footage of CCTV cameras installed near the accident spot.
