JOIN USOfficials of the District Nirmithi Kendra and contractors were caught red-handed by mediapersons while fabricating official documents at a lodge in the city at midnight on Wednesday.
Deputy Commissioner P C Jaffer, who is the chairman of the Nirmithi Kendra, was recently transferred from the district. Hardly a few days are left for the new officer to take charge. This being the case, it is said that the contractors were trying to get their bills cleared.
A few of the mediapersons were manhandled and the video camera of one of them was damaged. An engineer is said to have fled the spot. Documents and photographs pertaining to works related to drain, hostel building, anganwadis, installation of electricity equipment and others were found. Officials were busy preparing fresh documents, it is said. Efforts to contact Jaffer went in vain.
