'Bhoomi pooja' for JD(S) building

Janata Dal (Secular) supremo H D Deve Gowda, who is mobilising donations for the construction of his party office in Seshadripuram, did the ‘bhoomi puja’ at the project site on Friday.

Gowda, who arrived in Bengaluru from Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, participated in the ritual, and said that the responsibility of ensuring construction of the party office was on all party leaders and workers. He said cement and steel vendors had promised to donate raw materials for the building.

As per estimates, the party requires Rs five crore for the building construction. So far, it has raised around Rs 47 lakh, which includes contributions from MLA E Krishnappa, and MLCs T A Saravana and Chowda Reddy, who have donated Rs 10 lakh each.
