A colourful, tasty and refreshing concoction of flavours that scream ‘yummy’, is the very new ‘nitrogen ice cream’. You may have seen it on famous food and cooking shows but this new delight is  making waves in the city.

The arrival of this new technique has replaced the old boring scoop of ice cream with a secret weapon called the “liquid nitrogen gas”. The creative use of liquid nitrogen along with some creamy ingredients, rapid freezing at low temperatures and foggy effects creates a delicious concoction of your summer delight in a blink of an eye. To indulge in this heavenly experience you can visit Niice Creams at Hauz Khas Village and Azote located at SDA market. These two new brands have entered the market recently and are making waves on account of this new ice cream-making technique.

 Niice creams offers a range of toppings, colours and flavours to choose from and create your personal favourite. With a fill-up form consisting of four steps, they let you “Make your own” ice cream, burger or shake, by choosing a creamy or sugar-free base of your choice. You can decide from a range of amazing flavours like Blueberry Cheesecake, Naughty Nutella, Paanstar, Juicy Lucy Mango Raspberry, Oreo Crunch and many more.

The next step allows you to choose vibrant and modern add-ons like Choco Chips, Toffee Sauce, Red Velvet, Biscuit Crumble, Brownie and Kit Kat to name some. The last and most exciting step allows you to choose a colour! Imagine your chocolate Niice cream in violet, pink, green, orange or indigo. After deciding on everything, watch the smoky theatrics that craft your freshly made delicious ice cream and deliver you the same along with a chocolate syringe.

Azote on the other hand offers only selected flavours and toppings like Red Velvet, Cookie Crumb, Salted Caramel, to name a few, to choose from but the exciting part is the “laboratory” like ambience. The interior is dark and complements the theme of a lab with test tubes containing bright colours, machines in bright red and the staff wearing lab coats to add to the lab feel. The freshly made nitrogen ice cream is served with waffle and a chocolate or white chocolate syringe to add to the experience. There are other mouth-watering delights like cakes, pastries, macaroons, chocolates and cookies.

“I love the theatrics and taste of the fresh nitrogen cream, but I cannot pay the steep price for a single scoop. The overall one-time experience is good and satisfying”,  Shivoy Ahuja, a journalism student, tells Metrolife.

Even though these ice creams are trendy and new in the city there are complaints about the price and comparisons with the regular ice cream scoops. However, there are food enthusiasts who do not mind the price for the funky new taste and experience.
“I tried the Naughty Nutella and Belgium Chocolate flavour along with a few interesting add-ons at Niice Creams and they were delicious. I recommend everyone to try the new nitrogen ice creams which are customised and freshly made. What could be better?” says Ananya Banga, a food enthusiast.
