'I am a director's actor'

'I am a director's actor'
Aditi Rao Hydari is remembered for the strong characters she portrayed in films like ‘London, Paris, New York’, ‘Murder 3’ and ‘Yeh Saali Zindagi’. She says these films have made a substantial difference to her career and given it the much-needed boost.

“I come from a non-film background and I’ve never had a godfather to lead me on. Yet, I am fortunate to have had so many good projects come my way. People have recognised me for my work and there’s no greater reward than that,” says Aditi.

She is playing an interesting character in the upcoming film ‘Guddu Rangeela’ of a girl who has been kidnapped but manages to escape.

“She is a strong and quiet girl. But as the movie progresses, the viewers will get to see the different layers of the character. It’s the story of an innocent and vulnerable girl, who gets entangled in a messy situation and how she gets out of it. This is narrated in a humourous way and that’s what makes the movie one-of-a-kind,” explains Aditi.

Aditi likes to dub herself as someone who likes to act on instinct. “My choice of projects and the way I interpret the characters largely depend on my instinct. I am a director’s actor and would like to bring forth a director’s vision on screen,” she explains.

The beautiful actress doesn’t fit into the usual league of Bollywood actresses for she comes from a royal family. Her upbringing was indeed very different.

“I was exposed to a lot of art, dance, music and culture from a very young age. When I told my parents that I wanted to get into acting, they were shocked at first. But it didn’t take them too long to understand why I wanted to do it. They have stood by me since then,” she says. Aditi has a couple of more projects in hand and hopes that every new project enriches her experience as an actor.
