As per the directions of the Home Ministry, the Rapid Action Force (RAF), which comes under the Central Rapid Protection Force (CRPF) will conduct a familiarisation exercise in the district up to July 14.

A team of personnel from Coimbatore, belonging to C-105 Company, have camped in the district to collect details, in case of any incident that disturbs the peace and harmony.

Addressing media persons here on Thursday, Deputy Commander Sunil Kumar said, a 50-member team is on a visit to the district to analyse the measures to be taken to control the situation during the time of emergencies like communal clash.

An intelligence squad would collect the details on the sensitive areas of the district. It would also calculate the time required to reach the troubled areas through train and road. This would help in taking immediate action during emergencies.

They would hold discussions with local leaders and social activists and would visit sensitive areas coming under 11 police stations in the district. However, a mock drill will be held by the RAF, along with the local police, he added.

The team would visit Muthige, Kulagana, Sagade, Kilagere, Ummathuru, Banahalli on July 10.
It would visit Padaguru in Gundlupet taluk, Koodasoge, Shivapura, Ankahalli, Bheemanabeedu and Maddur village on July 11. Similarly, the team would visit villages in Kollegal taluk on July 12, and would participate in a volleyball match with local players at Yalandur.

It would take part in a cleanliness drive in Chamarajanagar on July 13, and later visit Shagya, Bandalli, P G Palya and other places, Kumar  added.

Additional SP M Muthuraju and RAF Assistant Commander K Venkateshan were present on the occasion.
