Bulls' foreign players to arrive in next 3 days for PKL

Last Updated 12 July 2015, 13:17 IST

All foreign players of city franchise Bengaluru Bulls will arrive in India in the next three days to participate in the upcoming Pro-Kabaddi League Season 2 (PKL-2).

"The external affairs ministry has granted visa to foreign players. Some players are already flying into India. Some will come tomorrow and others in next two to three days," Bulls owner Uday Sihn Wala today told PTI.

Earlier this month, Wala had said that the foreign players were facing problems in acquiring visa.

Wala said foreign players could have arrived in India earlier, but their arrival was delayed due to the players' auction which was held over a month ago.

"The auction for new players just got over 55 days ago, which resulted in late submission of visa related papers for clearance from the external affairs ministry," he said.

There are three foreign players including Sinotharan Kanesharjah from Sri Lanka, who is a raider.

Wala expressed happiness over the expected arrivals of the players.

"Personally, I would have wanted the foreign players to be in India much earlier. Now that they are coming in next two to three days, they will have some time at least to gel and bond with other players," he said.

However, despite their late arrivals, the Bengaluru Bulls' foreign players were undergoing training regimen as prescribed by the the team coach and the physio in their respective countries, Wala said.

PKL 2 will be played between eight teams across eight different Indian cities. It starts from July 18 and final will be played on August 23.

Abhishek Bachchan's Jaipur Pink Panthers are title defenders.

As many as 60 matches will be played and each team will play two matches with every other team.

Top four teams will advance to the semifinals to be played on August 21.

The matches will be played in Bengaluru, Delhi, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Mumbai, Patna and Pune.
