MP consoles farmers' family members

MP R Dhruvanarayan visited the house of farmer Shivarudregowda at Gangawadi, in the taluk, on Friday to console the family members.

Shivarudregowda is the only farmer, according to government records, in the district, to have committed suicide due to the pressure of mounting debts, recently. He had committed suicide by consuming pesticides.

After extending a personal financial aid to the family, the MP said District In-charge Minister H S Mahadev Prasad has already visited the family and has assured to provide a government job for Shivarudregowda’s widow.

Ensuring maximum relief

“The minister has also assured seats for the deceased farmer’s children in the Morarji Desai Residential School. I will discuss the issue with the minister and ensure that the family gets the maximum relief from the government agencies. In consultation with MLA S Jayanna, steps will be taken to dig a borewell at the farmland of the deceased farmer. Measures will be taken to construct a new house for the family,” the MP added.

He appealed to the farmers not to lose heart. “The farmers should face the situation boldly. The government is with them,” he added.

District Congress president K P Sadashivamurthy, Zilla Panchayat Member B P Puttabudhi and Grama Panchayat member Ramu were present on the occasion.
