Briefing reporters, Unitech Trades & Imports (the licensee to sell Akai energy products) Country Head S L Narayanan said that Akai will launch a range of seven Zinc Chloride batteries, three Alkaline batteries, 11 Rechargeable-Ni-MH batteries and five Ready-to-use batteries besides launching four chargers with Ni-MH cells. Unitech has made an investment of Rs 200 crore currently.
Adding to this, Akai Executive Director (Middle East Region) Shamsuddin Palakal said that the firm will look at setting up a manufacturing unit somewhere in north India once it achieves the target of 10 per cent market share.
