Showers lashed the City on Saturday evening, hampering weekend shopping.

People were found either caught in a traffic jam or under a shelter to avoid the downpour.

Many parts of the City including MG Road, Brigade Road, Cubbon Road, Hosur Road and Residency Road had bumper-to-bumper traffic. According to the Varuna Mitra call centre of the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre, most parts of the City received rainfall with Singanayakanahalli near Yelahanka recording the highest at 39 mm, followed by Chikkajala at 28.5 mm. Bidarahalli in Bengaluru East recorded 19.5 mm, followed by Yelahanka recording 17.5 mm, Bommanahalli with 14.5 mm and Tavarekere in Bengaluru South recording 10 mm.

However, the Meteorological department recorded only 2.2 mm of rainfall in the City and 3.6 mm in HAL Airport. A tree was uprooted at Devadas Petrol Bunk near High Grounds police station due to the rainfall.
